The Tarangire River is the lifeblood of this park and after the rains the animals return to the park from surrounding areas. The peak months for game viewing here are in the dry season. Many animals will disperse out side the park once there is water in other areas to the north and east of the park.
You are likely to see many elephants, plains animals such as hartebeest, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, warthog, impala, grant and Thompson gazelles. This is the only park where one can possibly see Oryx. There are many species including cape buffalo, elands, waterbucks, reedbucks, bushbucks, dik-diks, ostriches, baboons, vervets monkeys and many species of mongoose.
